This project consists of a multi-phase renovation to the exterior and interior of the Asheville Music Hall. The first phase focuses on the facade and improving the visibility of the venue to pedestrian and vehicular traffic as well as creating an inviting outdoor area for socializing.

The design takes advantage of the existing stage location, uniquely placed at the front of the venue, as a way to activate the facade. The formerly under utilized green room was demolished and renovated to create an exterior “front porch” for the Music Hall. The “Front Porch” allows the facade to be inhabited and gives patrons a space to gather outside. New storefront with translucent panels serve as the backdrop for the stage. During a performance, stage lighting and movement from band members is filtered through, giving a glimpse of the activity inside.
